ARRI Zeiss Master Primes, Gorilla Pictures, and You

Digg!

mp_posterWe at Gorilla Pictures are proud to announce the recent acquisition of a set of ARRI Zeiss Master Primes: an 18, 25, 35, 50, 75, and 100 mm. The lenses were purchased by an entrepreneur here in Grand Rapids who is encouraged by young creative talent and wants to see everyone in West Michigan working with the best equipment, and proudly representing our talent pool. For that, we can’t thank him enough.

Also, they are the only set of Master Primes housed at a Michigan-based production company.

So what makes them the bees knees? For starters, they have an F-stop of 1.3 — a true 1.3. None of this ARRI Super Speed 1.3 kind-of-lie, where bleeding off the whites occurs. Also, each Master Prime lens is hand-crafted somewhere in the Old Country. The glass is impeccable. I’m quite certain it’s polished by angels and delivered via stork to German engineers. One other thing I’ll touch on is that the subject distance on the lens is true. Cheaper glass will not be able to hold the corners of images in focus — especially on an 18 mm lens. But the Master Prime gives you a completely sharp image, elating camera geeks worldwide.

The lenses have been used so far on Kairos Production’s “Ed’s Story” and Caleb Alexander Slain’s co-production with Gorilla Pictures, “The Lost & Found Shop.” Rental rates can be found at http://gorilla-pictures.com/gorilla/red-one-camera-package/ — however, for projects that inspire, rates are always negotiable.
